Welcome to Bali: Ngurah Rai International Airport

With discount airlines offering direct flights with cheap airfares from cities such as Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Bangkok, Taipei, and Hong Kong, it’s no surprise that Bali is always bustling with visitors. And it makes for a bright, energetic vibe around places like Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran. As you exit the airport terminal, you’ll quickly find a good-natured taxi driver who ferry you on a short, metered ride to your hotel. The Kuta area provides you with many lodging options from low-cost rooms to luxurious five-star accommodations. A bit farther up the coast, you’ll find villas that come not only with a private pool, but also with your own staff to attend your every need during your stay. More five-star luxury can be found in the quieter Nusa Dua area, where you’ll also be able to find your own isolated spot on a miles-long white sand beach. Bali gives you many pleasures to explore and just as many ways to explore them all. Get around in your self-drive rental car, or hire one with a driver for not much more. Hire a scooter and let the tropical breeze rush through your hair as you explore the vistas of this scenic destination. Or go native and take a bemo, a mode of transportation that’s a favorite among locals. Tour operators offer you even more choices of conveyance, including elephants, bicycles, horses, and kayaks. Although the beaches are stunning, you’ll also want to explore the cooler climes of some of the higher elevations, especially Mount Batur, one of Bali’s active volcanoes. And after you catch your breath following the spectacular view there, explore some of the island’s many rice terraces, a method of farming that’s been done in Bali for more than two thousand years. After a day of exploration, enjoy happy hour at a beachfront bar; then sample some mouth-watering Balinese cuisine or seafood, either al fresco by the ocean or in air-conditioned comfort. And when the discos, dance clubs, and bars come to life late in the evening, dance the night way until dawn. Whatever your choice, Bali gives you the chance to enjoy it.
